Combining propeganda with dramatic entertainment during WWI, British Major A. E. Rees directed his descriptive sketch, "In the Trenches" in 1917.
His endeavor predates what eventually became techniques in production of early radio shows, which became increasingly popular through the 1920s and 30s.
