Patrick Stark is a writer, director and producer whose career in film began 20 years ago, working in multiple departments on numerous Hollywood productions shot in Vancouver.
The majority of Patrick’s practical experience was as an assistant director where he found a tremendous opportunity to learn the technical and creative aspects of filmmaking from some of the most accomplished directors, actors and film technicians in the world.
Patrick’s foray into producing was in 1999 with the short film Tilt, a modern version of Cervantes’ Don Quixote which ultimately received the donated funds and services of over 700 individuals from Vancouver’s film community.
In 2004, after assisting on numerous other independent films as a producer, Patrick decided that the next step in his film journey would be to find an acclaimed novel and develop it for the big screen. After a month of searching, he stumbled upon a glowing review in Entertainment Weekly - of an American novel, A Century of November written by prolific author W.D. Wetherell. Upon obtaining the rights with producing partner Nicolas Awde, they would soon sign Hollywood screenwriter Jay Wolpert to adapt and further develop the project.
With his first feature in the works, Patrick simultaneously began tapping into the world of advertising and started his company Creative Ballistics Media, where he writes, directs and produces commercials for finance, resource and technology corporations that air internationally on Bloomberg, CNN and nationally on CBC and BNN.
Feature projects in development include the adaptation of A Stone Boat by Andrew Solomon, bestselling author of The Noonday Demon, and is currently in production on the documentary feature, One Life No Regrets.
